Mom and Ben are friends

The two stars of the party had many photo opportunities together throughout the night. Mom definitely got in on the 6th Ave. Baby Love Train and now is an official sucker herself for our favorite little swirlie head, officially known as Bennett Chandler Fondren (or by rap name B-Chan).

Us Brown folks love some babies -- did that even need to be said? Mom said what I said about Ben having that magic baby smell (we have narrowed it down to the Johnson and Johnson lavendar baby bath). Ben's swirlie now has a life of its own as shown which officially makes him Super Baby.

I like the concept of the appetitizer party. It is more low key than the dinner party with less dishes to wash and people can eat as they want to.

Grant, Don and I got an impromtu acoustic trio going later in the evening. We kept going well into the night with classics from Pure Prarie League, The Eagles and even Alabama -- hell why not? When in Rome right?

The Tutors -- mi amigos

All I gotta say is the new 2006 Tutor (due date is late spring) is going to be one lucky kid with these two as parents. That baby will be blogged by his or her Dad and them some and you know I will be adding comments and pictures. My mom called them "a darling couple" and this is definitely true, but I certainly wouldn't say that about them on Saturday night in the newsroom and I mean that as a complement.

My dear friend and fellow work bud Don made it to the party and got to meet Mom. Don was one of my Dad's student's and shining joys at Auburn in the early 1990s and went on to become one of my closest friends and confidantes at work at the Birmingham Business Journal for the four years I was there. I am so happy to have him back in my friend circle and I know Mom was happy to finally meet the legend known as Donald J. Milazzo.

I never realized how great our glider chairs were until Ben came along. Like I said, It was nice how mom and Ben liked each other -- like old friends.

Seeing my mom with Ben brought me so much joy. He really liked her. She has the baby touch and always has and he never let out a peep while she had him. He had this very content look in his eyes like he knew he was in good hands (and he was!).

Party's over, you kids go home

We all hate it when its time for Ben to go home (even Ben). We noticed his Dad has a matching ducktail so no need to wonder where Ben gets his.
